Food
Stamp Films was born on January 10, 2004. After writing one
hundred and thirty-one feature length screenplays, Jeff McGary
decided to
start filming them with the help of his friends. Currently, in
addition to the films that were written over more than a decade of
laboring, we have begun to also shoot improvisational films as well,
based upon story lines and complex character back story.
The films have more in common with European, Latin American, Persian
and Asian films than Modern
Hollywood, and though we are based in Los Angeles physically, we are
many moons away creatively. Instead of trying to make BIGGER
films full of explosions and car chases, we are looking deeper into our
human emotions and fragile psyches. Very few people will ever
encounter aliens while working undercover for the F.B.I., but many of
us will loose our jobs, cheat on our spouses and face other moral
decisions on a daily basis. These are the types of films we want
to create.
There is no instruction book to life. We hope that through cinema
we are able to share our experiences and failures with other people, so
that we may all learn and hopefully grow. By combining sound,
vision and emotion, we hope to create such an instruction book.
Hopefully, we shall inspire others for generations to come, so that
they will come along and make new editions.
